Fun place for groups. All around great hot pot place. Meats could be better quality, but the variety of the buffet makes up for it. My kids love this place!
Brought my parents who were visiting Boston to Spring Shabu-Shabu and this was our first time! They absolutely loved their experience eating here and asked if they could come again. We came on a weekday evening around 6:30pm and thankfully, we were seated right away, although it was very busy. We were excited by the large selection of vegetables, fish cakes, noodles, and sauces that were AYCE. We love meat, but we found that we didn't have to order too much meat because of how good the AYCE items were. The matcha ice cream at the end was superb! It's a loud environment and pretty chaotic, but I would say it's an excellent deal overall!
Parking: lots of plaza parking but make sure not to take the McDonald or petco parking because you'll get towed This place has to be one of my top shabu shabu places because there are so many good options. You do have to pay for the meat and drinks but everything else is included in the meal from noodles to veggies to ice cream. The ice cream is a must!! Service is also great and super helpful
This place is the best hot pot in the Boston area! I really like the quality and variety of ingredients. You can get unlimited non-meat toppings. There are so many options for vegetables, noodles, and tofu and it's so hard to choose which ones to get because they all look so good. I also really like their soft serve-- it's a must try no matter how full you get! Although the restaurant is really large and has lots of tables, it gets really busy on weekdays and you need to queue up around 30 minutes in advance to get in when it opens.
Probably my favorite hot pot in the Boston area for its variety and price-to-quality ratio. I've been here like 4 or 5 times which is A LOT for me. Recently I brought my parents who also greatly enjoyed their meal (the most I've ever seen my bird-like mother eat at a restaurant). This is a very popular place so be prepared to wait at high traffic times (weekend nights are probably the worst). They don't take reservations so you have to physically go to the restaurant to put your name down. Then they'll text you when your table is ready. They have tables mostly for 2, 4, and 6 people -- if you have a party larger than that then good luck lol. Also they will not seat you until the whole party is present. Each table comes with individual hot pots so everyone can get their own broth. I absolutely love that since people have different levels of spice tolerance/taste preferences and you don't have to compromise. It's all-you-can-eat for everything except meat which is ordered a la carte. To me it's the perfect system -- you don't feel pressured to stuff yourself with meat unlike with true AYCE hot pot, but you also don't need to spend extra money for vegetables/tofu/noodles unlike with true a la carte hot pot. The meat selection is very basic to be frank and the portion sizes are pretty small, so if you're a meat lover then you may be disappointed. However, the true star is the AYCE offerings. They have a huge variety of leafy greens, root vegetables, tofu, fresh noodles, fish balls (shout out to the kind with fish eggs inside), and even whole raw eggs. The sauce bar is pretty extensive, with several premade concoctions in addition to the usual sesame paste, chili oil, garlic, etc. AND they also have an ice cream machine serving matcha soft serve. If I had one criticism, it would be that they could have some fresh fruit -- that would truly be *chefs kiss* Also there's a pretty large parking lot in the plaza. That alone is like one extra star lol.
AYCE phenomenal selection of vegetables. Great variety of noodles and fishballs. You need to order meats or seafood on the side for additional cost. I love the matcha soft serve for dessert! My friends and I (party of 5) didn't need to wait for a table for a Wednesday dinner. The staff takes your broth order pretty quickly and you serve yourself the rest. Great place for a meal with friends because everyone can find something that they like.
Is it the best shabu shabu/hot pot experience I've ever had? No - that honor goes to Hai Di Lao in China, where you get a free manicure and loads of snacks in advance. But Spring Shabux2 is a great deal for the area, especially if, like me, you're more into fish balls and veggies and noodles than meat. It's a flat rate and buffet style, so you can eat to your heart's desire, and it's a particularly good deal for large groups/families, since there's usually something there for everyone. I loved the buffet of veggies, fish balls, mushrooms, tofu, noodles and rice. So many different kinds of veggies! The variety is another selling point. As is the sauce bar - I have no idea whether what I'm mixing will turn out good or not, but I went with sha cha, peanut sauce, sesame sauce, and chili oil, with loads of scallions and cilantro. Everything was very clean and fresh. My favorite was the fish ball with roe inside. For once, the protein a la carte options play second fiddle to the incredible buffet spread. Don't forget the green tea soft serve afterwards! My one tip is to go on a weekday night (and on the early side). Our group of 3 went around 5:45 and didn't have to wait, though when we left at 7:30, there was already a line. The weekends are bananas. Also, they won't seat you until your whole party is here so don't be the annoying friend who claims to have left already when you're still sitting at home. PARKING: Spring shares the lot with PetCo, just be mindful of not parking somewhere that's specifically designated. If that lot is full, you can always use the enormous Star Market lot.
Great place if you're looking for hotpot in the area. I was here recently for work and so we were staying nearby the Harvard Business School campus. It was raining and cold and our party of 4 wanted to eat something warm and soupy. What better place than a hotpot restaurant. A quick yelp search led us to this establishment. We knew it must be good if the place was packed on a Friday night and the avg wait time was over 60 min! Our party was quoted a 90 minute wait, and since we Uber'd here and it was raining heavily outside, we chose to wait. We. Were. Not. Disappointed. Location: large seating area with different table/seating configurations to allow for parties of different sizes. The premise is that each individual has their own hotpot to customize to their preference and delight. Food: Great selection of vegetables, noodles, seafood balls and cakes, and sauces to customize. This all comes unlimited for the base price of the AYCE, and it's priced very reasonably at under $30. You start off by selecting one of 4 or 5 soup bases. I chose the "Chinese Mala" which was not too spicy and not your traditional Mala. What you can do from there is add on your proteins for about $5-9 per individual serving. I added on 1 order of beef ribeye, and 1 order of beef belly, each about 4 ounces each...which was more than enough! Overall, this was a great meal and fantastic place to try out. If I'm back here again, I'll be sure to come back!
$23 for all you can eat hot pot is so worth it when you have an unlimited noodle, vegetable, rice, and sauce bar‼ You can't go wrong with any of their 5 soup selections, but I always order their pork bone broth (they have a vegetable broth for any vegetarians!) Note: Their AYCE doesn't include drinks or meats/seafood, but the additional cost was affordable! Hot pot on a cold rainy day is the BEST pick me up that warms your soul and I love how @springshabushabu.boston (instagram) has unlimited vanilla matcha green tea soft serve ice cream to enjoy for dessert
Like other reviews have stated, you just gotta know when to go! We were here for a Sunday night dinner as a group of five, and I'm surprised/annoyed that this spot does not take reservations. That's a personal preference, I just wish that the waiting room was considered more when they were building out the floor plan--it could be bigger. Overall, I would recommend you go here if you like the type of food that is served and are in zero rush to be anywhere else when you arrive. Expect to wait at least 45 minutes minimum on one of their busy days. We got the beef and seafood protein assortments, and I got kimchi as my broth. The food was good, and I did love how many options were available at the side buffet, though I felt the kimchi itself was a bit on the more than spicier end. It's awesome that you can cook the food yourself and turn up or down the temperature as well. The pots were a bit too far out for me on the table, but I was able to adapt to it over time. Again, depending on how busy they are, it'll be a bit tough to get a good parking spot and you'll only have about 90 minutes to enjoy your meal before they are ready to have you leave and bring you your check. Our server was pretty efficient and checked on us every so often. The restaurant looked clean and it looked like they were all busting their booties to make sure everything ran smoothly enough. The soda machine was broken so non-alcoholic beverage options were limited. I did enjoy the ice cream they had available from the machine (green tea and vanilla), and I think that they should get a second one so there's less of a line. Walking throughout the place, you do notice at times how limited space actually is as well. Price point is on point though! About $23 per person, plus $5-6 per protein option. Thank you~
